When British nationals reach the ripe old age of 100, they qualify for a congratulatory message from the Queen. When you reach 100 million streams in Will Smith’s house, you get a cheeky reward for the whole world to see.
The actor, rapper and all-round entertainer saluted his son Jaden’s streaming milestone with a special video -- a spoof of Jaden's "Icon." The elder Smith looks every bit the hardman until we spot his old-geezer slippers and socks combo, and his grills drop out his mouth.
Jaden, the son of Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, saw his debut SYRE peak at No. 24 on the Billboard 200 after its release last November. The album, which features guest spots from A$AP Rocky and Raury, has now passed 100 million streams on Spotify. “Icon” alone has moved past 30 million listens on the market-leading streaming service.
“I’m proud of you baby,” Will shouts out in the clip. “Congrats. I love you.”
Jaden returned the love. “Dad this is the funniest thing I’ve ever seen in my life. You’re the best father anyone could ask for,” he wrote in the comments section of he dad’s post. “Thank you for allowing me to express myself even when I take it to (sic) far sometimes. I love you more than you will ever know because you taught me how to love. Also thank you for having the best Instagram on planet earth.”
Dads everywhere, bear in mind the camera adores Will Smith. Don’t try this at home.
