The first track lifted from the album, "Filthy," also wasn’t to everyone’s tastes as some fans declared it banger, others garbage. So did the album go down the wrong way with fans? Not exactly.
Man of the Woods dropped ahead of midnight, and his followers are (mostly) eating it up. If "Filthy" left a bad taste, Man of the Woods apparently cleansed the palate. “We didn’t deserve #manofthewoods but we still got it. @jtimberlake you are literally a gift to this world. Dude. This was a freaking work of art. Whew!,” wrote one fan with the Twitter handle Miss Erika.
Timberlake’s fifth solo studio album, and his first since 2013’s The 20/20 Experience, is pitched as his most “ambitious” to date, both sonically and lyrically, with contributions from The Neptunes, Timbaland, Chris Stapleton and Alicia Keys.
The memes and messages flowed on social media as the album trended on Twitter. Check out some of the best below.

— Kenya♎️#Quinoa (@KCSoSweet24) February 2, 2018Justin Timberlake is about as "in touch" with his southern roots as a KFC in New York City.
Just because you're from the south doesn't mean you're good at describing it, speaking eloquently on the region --#ManOfTheWoods is a headache.
— ARTV (@ARTVReviews) February 1, 2018Justin didn’t make an album for radio or a hit single to burn out and people forgets bt it 2 days later. This is a legacy right here. This is what GOOD MUSIC sounds like. BRAVO ----#ManOfTheWoods
